Automotive market: Record growth of over 33% in 2025!

Another argument that explains the commercial performance of new cars in Morocco is the strong growth of the tourism sector, which totaled some 19.8 million arrivals in 2025.
New car sales in Morocco reached an unprecedented record in 2025. According to the overall sales figures compiled by the Moroccan Association of Vehicle Importers (AIVAM), no fewer than 235,372 units were sold throughout the twelve months of 2025. This represents record growth, never before seen in the history of the Moroccan automotive industry, of 33.43% compared to 2024. As a reminder, the total sales volume was 176,401 vehicles in 2024, compared to 161,504 units in 2023.
According to Abdelouheb Ennaceri, president of the AIVAM Association, this sales performance is explained by a favorable economic context, with a growth rate of approximately 4.4%, controlled inflation of less than 1%, and exports up 8.5%, driven primarily by the automotive, aerospace, and phosphate sectors. Another factor contributing to the strong sales performance of new cars in Morocco is the robust growth of the tourism sector, which is projected to reach 19.8 million arrivals in 2025. This represents an increase of approximately 14% and a rise in revenue of 19%.
According to the president of AIVAM, in addition to the acceleration of the tourism sector, there has been growth in domestic demand, coupled with a significant increase in public procurement and basic infrastructure projects. The exceptional performance of new vehicle sales in 2025 can also be attributed to the trend towards stabilizing car prices, and even price decreases in some segments, after three consecutive years of rising prices in the automotive sector. Furthermore, the easing of credit conditions and attractive bank financing rates have been contributing factors.
It should also be noted that the strong performance of the tourism sector has allowed rental companies to purchase even more new cars to meet market demand. In fact, the high demand for car rental and tourist transport has enabled these activities to account for 34% of new car sales in Morocco by 2025.
The exponential growth in sales (33%) in 2025 is also explained, according to AIVAM, by the offensive of Chinese car brands. It should be noted that the Moroccan market has some 51 car brands (compared to 36 in 2024), from all origins, a third of which (17 brands) are Chinese, primarily electrified vehicles (electric and hybrid). By next March, the Moroccan market should include more than 20 Chinese brands, according to AIVAM. Obviously, the record sales of new vehicles also reflect the strong demand from households and businesses, purchasing power, and the economic climate.
